Come join us Saturday April 13th and Sunday April 14th, 2013, at the annual Eco Design Fair at the Cool Docks! Eco Design Fair is Shanghai’s largest, FREE sustainable event. This year we are expecting over 15,000 visitors to explore over 100 vendors and exhibits showcasing the most innovative in green fashion, food, energy, transportation, wellness, lifestyle, home, gardening, finance and more! GoodtoChina is planning a vast spread of creative exhibits for all ages and interests: the Critical Mass Bike Ride, Urban Farming Exhibit, Sustainable Space, Chef’s Corner, Design Thinking Space, and Waste Lecture Series.
Back by popular demand, GoodtoChina will kickstart Eco Design Fair with a Critical Mass Bike Ride. Starting in Xujiahui Park, riders are encouraged to join in a demonstration for cleaner, safer, urban transportation. Co-organizers Femina Magazine will be offering prizes for Best Eco-Fashion, Best Dressed Family, etc. Interested parties can register in advance on the GoodtoChina or CityWeekend websites.
The Urban Farming Exhibit will be an interactive, family-friendly space introducing visitors to the basics of urban agriculture. We’ll be running a variety of instructional workshops and fun activities suitable for children and adults alike — discovering seeds and sprouts; learning the medicinal benefits of herbs and leaves; creating mini-composter cups, aquaponics and hydroponics seminar, and more! The exhibit will also include a Farmers Market, inviting many of the city’s local, organic-certified farmers (BioFarm, The Mahota Farm, Eco Dream Land Farm, etc.) to sell their fresh, safe produce and products.
Following last year’s success, GoodtoChina has expanded its Sustainable Healthy Space this year. We will fashion our Sustainable Space to emulate a contemporary living space, with an added cafe and a green technology workshop. It will target businesses and individuals alike so as to empower visitors to transform their own home or office space into sustainable and healthy platforms. GoodtoChina partners such as Coco-Mat and Haworth have generously contributed their products and expertise to build a bigger, better and more eco-conscious atmosphere, perfect to showcase our educational flag panels, which are once again bursting with information and tips on healthy, sustainable lifestyle choices!
In cooperation with Slow Food, we are thrilled to present Chef’s Corner on the Eco Design Fair main stage. Chef’s Corner will be a series of cooking demonstrations that will run throughout the entire weekend, showcasing Shanghai’s best local and diverse culinary talent. Experience a vegetarian monk, fitness monger, health guru, award-winning hotel chef (and many more!) as they demonstrate how to get the most taste and nutrition out of the season’s harvest, and engage viewers in the art of conscious cooking!
